Nighthawks--

(Nighthawks as painted by Edward Hopper)

Imitational Qualities:
The mimicry in this picture is borderline photographic, from the detail of their hair to the minute variances in contrast. The detail in this picture exceeds almost everything I've seen before, the bland colors mixed with the vast attention to detail create this so unfathomably life-like portrait that it seems to portray some feeling of loneliness or depression through routine. This vivid imagery should truly be considered a work of art by any inquiring artists.

Formal Qualities:
The art piece uses colors that go together in a soft manor as opposed to a complimentary manor, what I mean by that is that there is nothing exciting about this picture it simply looks like real life. I thought the nice hue change between the mild yellow inside and the brownish burgundy of the houses went together for that scenario of a lonely bar after a hard days work or something to that affect. The blank pavement directly outside the cafe area seems untouched and unused and loans itself to a seeming feeling of uselessness, apathy,  or boredom. Again, this artwork has proven authentic and noteworthy in this respect.

Emotional Qualities:
The emotion that radiates off of this painting is like the heat that radiates from the sun. You know the second you look at this that it makes you feel lonely, tedious, maybe even stressed. I believe it demonstrates that through solid colors with attention to specifics and yet still leaving big chunks virtually untouched (i.e. the concrete outside the cafe, the building (no graffiti or anything), the walls inside the cafe, etc). Another way I thought this painting stood out was the way it was so realistic that it made me feel down; usually I look at art to see something different, something beautiful, but when I saw this I looked at something that made me remember that this is what life is, all it can be, and all it will be. In the end that's all it ever was. I don't think that's what Hopper was trying to say in this picture but that's just the emotions it stirred up in me.

Hope you enjoyed the blog y'all :D

Lolosaurus Rex

For the Rhythm Assignment, in CyberARTS class, I decided to make this design. I thought this design was emotionally explicit in of how it makes you feel, I believe it radiates a feeling of grace, movement, and bliss perhaps. It expresses rhythm because the lines are curved and multi-directional, thus seemingly moving. I thought that using simple black lines on a white background with light grey lines continuing around the black lines would be as minimalist as possible because I've found that minimalist illustrations are more often than not (in my personal opinion) more beautiful, meaningful, immaculate, and powerful than a more detailed picture. The meaning I thought this simple doodle portrayed was that of peace, longevity, and an almost far-gone sense of relaxation or a high of sorts. I hope you enjoyed capturing this little piece in your minds, peace.

This is the Line Assignment for my CyberARTS class. The lines in this illustration and the distance between them (both horizontal and vertical) create an optical illusion. You perceive a line to be going through the picture in a zig zag where there is none. Also the distance between the lines at the bottom of the picture as opposed to the top of the picture greatly differs, as the bottom is tight and confined, whereas the top is spaced and released. This portrays a confusing and distant series of lines nonintersecting and in of themselves creating another invisible line. The image this bring to mind (for me anyway) is smoke escaping from a poorly ventilated area. Hope you enjoyed.

Oherrrrooooooo

welcooomee to my blog; I appreciate your wasted effort on even coming this far into assuming that reading this is useful in any way, shape or form. But, if you choose to continue reading I'll have you know that I am a member of the CyberARTS program at Lakeshore Collegiate Institute (L.C.I.) based in Toronto. Other than that there is nothing worth noting yet, this is my first blog and there will be more to come... that's all I got.
